Basic Structure of the New Contract

There are three tiers of service:

1. Essential—Must be provided by all pharmacies
2. Advanced—Can be provided by any pharmacy subject to certain criteria
3. Enhanced—May be provided as funded services only if commissioned

Essential Services

Essential Services include:

• Dispensing
• Repeat Dispensing
• Disposal of Medication
• Promotion of Healthy Lifestyle
• Sign-Posting
• Support for self care
• Clinical Governance

Advanced Services

There is currently one advanced service; Medicines Use Review and Prescription Intervention Service.

Enhanced Services
