IBD – Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Crohn’s and Colitis Webinar Recording Now Available

Overview:

The two main types of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) are Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis. Although more than 300,000 people in the UK are affected by these conditions, it is often associated with fear, isolation and stigma. Both are long term conditions where there is inflammation of the gut: Crohn’s disease can affect any part of the colon whereas Ulcerative Colitis only affects the large intestine.

As there is no cure for either condition, treatment aims to relieve symptoms and prevent them from returning. Treatment can entail lifestyle changes, specific diets, surgery and medicine. In May 2019, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) published new guidance on the management of Crohn’s disease and Ulcerative Colitis in Children, young people and adults.
