Description
Improving Patient Care Together – Oral Health
Overview:
The principles of Prudent Healthcare highlight the importance that the right person receives the right treatment at the right time. Understanding other professions and roles within the healthcare system promotes cooperative working as well as ensuring patients get the care and services from the appropriate profession in a timely manner.
Dentistry in Wales is provided across sectors by the dental team, with most service provision occurring in primary care settings. As the pharmacy workforce, our interaction with dental situations will vary according to roles, with the most common being dispensing dental prescriptions, providing dental advice to patients and providing dental items as over the counter (OTC) and pharmacy (P) products.
By having a greater understanding of dentistry in Wales, alongside utilising those from the dental workforce to enhance our knowledge base, we can further improve patient care going forward.
