Mae’r dyddiad Medi 28ain- pan darganfu Alexander Fleming benisilin ym 1928 yn ymgyrch flynyddol i godi ymwybyddiaeth o effaith cario label alergedd penisilin a sut y gall effeithio ar driniaeth gofal iechyd cleifion.
Mae pwysigrwydd o adnabyddiaeth gywir yn bwysig er mwyn trin cleifion yn ddiogel ac yn briodol. Mae adnabod y rhai sydd ag alergedd penisilin go iawn yn hollbwysig. Fodd bynnag, amcangyfrifir lle mae tua 10% o gleifion yn hunan-adrodd bod ganddynt alergedd penisilin, dim ond tua 1% sydd ag alergedd mewn gwirionedd.

Overview:
September 28th- the date Alexander Fleming discovered penicillin in 1928 is an annual campaign to raise awareness around the impact of carrying a penicillin allergy label and how it can affect a patient’s healthcare treatment.
The importance of correct identification is important for the safe and appropriate management of patients. The identification of those with true penicillin allergy is of utmost importance. However, it is estimated that where approximately 10% of patients self-report as being penicillin allergic, only around 1% are actually allergic.
Inaccurate diagnosis of penicillin allergy is increasingly being identified as a public health concern due to increased adverse events and infections, poor antimicrobial stewardship and financial implications.
