Red Whale – Drug monitoring in Primary Care
This webinar recording focuses on drug monitoring in primary care and what needs to be in place to be able to promote and ensure safe and effective practice.
This recording also looks at how pharmacists can play a critical role in developing safe and effective systems for drug monitoring.
A series of clinical examples are discussed such as prescribing and monitoring of renin-angiotensin-system (RAS) drugs; disease modifying therapies for arthritis (DMARDS) and drugs that prolong the QT interval.
After the recording participants will be able to:
- Explain what is meant by the term “high risk prescribing” in primary care
- Identify areas of current practice in terms of drug monitoring that can be improved upon
- Be confident in challenging current monitoring processes to enhance safe practice
- Make use of discussions during the webinar to apply in their own day to day practice
