Overview
This training package has been developed in order to increase the knowledge of the pharmacy team on the misuse of OTC opioids. This course is intended to help healthcare professionals identify patients with potential medication misuse issues and refer appropriately.
Learning Objectives
After completion of this course participants will be able to:
- Discuss the role of over the counter opioids in relieving pain and inflammation
- Understand the risks associated with long term use of OTC opioids including interaction, side effects and misuse
- Describe appropriate services, treatment interventions and care pathways which support people who have become dependent on specific medicines
