Overview
This training package has been developed in order to increase the knowledge of healthcare professionals on the safety issues associated with amiodarone. This course is intended to improve the management of patients prescribed amiodarone and help healthcare professionals consider the potential adverse effects of its use.
Learning Objectives
After completion of this course participants will be able to:
- Discuss the role of amiodarone in prevention and treatmnet of arrythmias
- Identify adverse effects of amiodarone therapy, in particular respiratory, skin, thyroid and liver related
- Describe potential strategies to reduce adverse effects including those resulting in hospital admissions
