Overview
This course is intended to improve the management of patients prescribed anticoagulants and to help healthcare professionals consider the potential adverse effects of their use.
Learning Objectives
After completion of this course participants will be able to:
- Discuss the use of anticoagulants, including both Vitamin K antagonists (VKAs) and novel oral anticoagulants (NOACs)
- Outline the potential adverse effects of anticoagulant therapy, in particular bleeding risk and effects on the liver
- Describe potential strategies to reduce adverse drug reactions including those resulting in hospital admissions
