Overview
This e-Learning programme has been designed to raise the awareness of healthcare professionals in Wales on the safety issues associated with insulin. The aim is to provide a brief introduction to the main safety considerations associated with insulin and to improve the safe and effective use of insulin through highlighting common problems with prescribing, dispensing and administration.
This programme has been developed for pharmacists and the wider clinical team and is suitable for any healthcare professional who is involved in the prescribing, dispensing, administration or monitoring of insulin.

By the end of this module, participants should be able to:
- Discuss the principles of insulin therapy and the associated safety issues.
- Identify circumstances that may lead to medication errors involving insulin.
- Describe potential strategies to reduce medication errors involving insulin.
