Overview
This training package has been developed in order to increase the knowledge of healthcare professionals on the safety issues associated with NSAIDs. This course is intended to improve the management of patients prescribed NSAIDs, and help healthcare professionals identify the early signs and symptoms of adverse effects or medication related issues.
Learning Objectives
After completion of this course participants will be able to:
- Discuss the role of NSAIDs in relieving pain and inflammation
- Identify adverse effects of NSAID therapy, in particular gastro-intestinal and cardiovascular risks
- Describe potential strategies to reduce adverse drug reactions including those resulting in hospital admissions
