Are you an existing employee in a pharmacy team in Wales wanting to apply for the HEIW Pre-registration Pharmacy Technician Modern Apprenticeship Training Programme, but do not have four GCSEs at grade C or above which must include English Maths and Science.
If so, HEIW can offer you a fully funded opportunity via ‘Access To’ to complete one or more of the qualifications, depending on your need, which will enable you to apply for this training programme. The next set of courses will start 2024. Further information will be available at a later date.
Need English GCSE at grade C or above?
You will be able to complete Essential Skills Communication at Level 2 via a blended model You can study at times which suit you, as the learning will be on a virtual platform, whilst still accessing regular support from your trainer. Upon enrolment, you will gain access to the shared learning platform which contains a variety of learning materials on each module of your qualification. Trainers will conduct live, online small group tutorials at the end of each module to mentor you on core skills and assist with queries and there will be the opportunity for peer-to-peer support through these sessions and the virtual group chat. Your progress will be monitored through submission of tasks to your trainer and via tutorial sessions.
Need Maths GCSE at Grade C or above?
You will be able to complete Essential Skills Application of numbers at Level 2 via a blended model You can study at times which suit you, as the learning will be on a virtual platform, whilst still accessing regular support from your trainer. Upon enrolment, you will gain access to the shared learning platform which contains a variety of learning materials on each module of your qualification. Trainers will conduct live, online small group tutorials at the end of each module to mentor you on core skills and assist with queries and there will be the opportunity for peer-to-peer support through these sessions and the virtual group chat. Need Science GCSE at Grade C or above?
You will be able to complete You will be able to complete BTEC Level 2 Applied Science via a blended model which will include virtual tutorials, there may be a requirement to attend 3 face to face tutorials throughout the programme. Further information will be released at a later date.
Need a fourth CCSE at Grade C or above?
You will be able to complete Essential Skills Digital Literacy at Level 2 via a blended model You can study at times which suit you, as the learning will be on a virtual platform, whilst still accessing regular support from your trainer. Upon enrolment, you will gain access to the shared learning platform which contains a variety of learning materials on each module of your qualification. Trainers will conduct live, online small group tutorials at the end of each module to mentor you on core skills and assist with queries and there will be the opportunity for peer-to-peer support through these sessions and the virtual group chat. Your progress will be monitored through submission of tasks to your trainer and via tutorial sessions.
Please note that completion of the qualifications does not guarantee a place on the Pre-registration Pharmacy Technician Modern Apprenticeship Training Programme, and you will still be subject to an application and interview process.

Ar ôl cofrestru, byddwch yn gallu cyrchu’r platfform dysgu a rennir sy’n cynnwys amrywiaeth o ddeunyddiau dysgu ar bob modiwl o’ch cymhwyster. Bydd hyfforddwyr yn cynnal sesiynau tiwtorial byw, ar-lein mewn grwpiau bach ar ddiwedd pob modiwl. Byddan nhw yn eich mentora ar sgiliau craidd ac yn cynorthwyo gydag ymholiadau.
