Important information regarding registering for WCPPEonline
Please read the registration instructions (provided in the light green boxes) very carefully as failure to complete the form correctly could result in you not getting immediate access.
It is VITAL that you provide the same name and address given to the GPhC when you register for WCPPEonline as this data is used to authenticate you as a user and will result in you not getting immediate access.
During office hours (9.00am – 5.00pm) you can contact the WCPPE office on 029 2087 4784 or wcppe@cardiff.ac.uk.
The WCPPEonline should work with the latest version of most common web browsers, however, WCPPE has found most courses in Learning work better with specific browsers, especially Mozilla Firefox 4 and Internet Explorer 7. Therefore, WCPPE recommends using Firefox 4 or Internet Explorer 7 with WCPPEonline learning (see the paragraph on browser version checking below).
For distance learning packs and e-Learning courses you should ensure your browser is compatible with the Moodle 2.0 learning platform (see paragraph above). You should also ensure that you enable cookies and javascript in your browser (these are often enabled by default) and disable your browser pop-up blocker for www.wcppe.org.uk.
Most distance learning packs and e-Learning courses also involve you being able to view PDF or RTF files (e.g. to access your completion certificate in distance learning packs). To ensure you can correctly view or download these types of files, you will need a program which can read PDFs and a program which can read RTFs. Adobe Reader is most commonly used to view PDF files and most word processing programs can read RTF files, for example Word, Works, StarOffice and OpenOffice. Both Adobe Reader and OpenOffice are freely available to download and install on your computer.
Some e-Learning courses include Flash files; you will need to have Adobe Flash installed to correctly see the materials in these courses (see the paragarph on Flash Player below).

Every web browser stores a cache of the websites you visit (e.g. HTML pages, images) to reduce bandwidth usage and server load. This is called the browser's cache. Clearing it occasionally can make some websites run smoother and free up space on your computers hard drive if it's running slowly. Since every browser is different, this webpage: Clear Your Browser's Cache will outline the steps involved in clearing the cache for several popular web browsers. February 27th is National Clear your Browser's Cache day; although you should do it more than once per year.
Some of the e-Learning courses in WCCPEonline learning require you to disable your pop-up blocker. You can either allow all pop-ups or you can allow pop-ups just for WCPPEonline learning by adding an exception (for learning.wcppe.org.uk) to your pop-up blocker list. In Safari 4 and 5, you can handle pop-ups by choosing Safari > Block Pop-Up Windows to toggle the pop-up blocker setting on or off.
