The education, training and supervision of colleagues is now recognised as a natural part of pharmacists’ and pharmacy technicians’ everyday work. This programme aims to provide an introduction to the skills and techniques of effective healthcare education and training. Through attending the workshops and completing the portfolio of evidence, participants will be able to apply these education skills and techniques to effectively support colleagues undertaking development opportunities in the workplace.
There are 3 options for this course:
1. HEIW Certificate of completion: (For pharmacists or pharmacy technicians)
Complete e-learning courses, attend the 3 training workshops and complete the HEIW workbook.
Estimated time: 80 hours (this course is not accredited)
2. Agored Cymru Level 4 12 Credit Certificate: (For pharmacy technicians)
Complete e-learning courses, attend the 3 training workshops and complete an e-portfolio of evidence.
This course is formally assessed against the Agored Cymru standards, by an assessor.
Estimated time: 120 hours (12 credits)
3. Cardiff University 10 credit Postgraduate certificate: (For pharmacists)
Complete e-learning courses, attend the 3 training workshops and complete the Cardiff University portfolio of evidence. Must also complete a 2000 word assignment.
Estimated time: 100 hours (10 credits)

Day 1 (half a day, virtual course) – Wednesday 5th October
Day 2 (half a day, virtual course) – Tuesday 8th November
Day 3 (full day, live event) – Monday 5th December (North Wales venue tbc)
If you have received confirmation of a place on this course and then wish to withdraw, written notification must be received at least two weeks prior to the beginning of the course, unless extenuating circumstances apply. Many of our CPD+ programmes are accredited programmes that require learners to submit a portfolio of evidence for assessment, as part of the credits awarded. Once enrolled onto these programmes, learners are required to attend all programme dates and submit a portfolio of evidence. HEIW reserves the right to claim back programme fees for costs incurred, if learners fail to attend required dates and/or submit a portfolio for assessing.
